Brilliant!
Dr Tom Starke's UA-cam review of the Zakamulin and Giner paper is titled "Optimal Trend-Following Rules In Different Regimes with Dr. Tom Starke" on the Quantopian channel.
with a greatest pleasure - unsubsribe such a nonsense heard sentence after sentence and host never questioned... first you talk about electric how important it is but when you talk about farm then all of sudden transport is just 5% so it deosnt matter xD THEN she says every litle thing for optimizing - well you just wasted energy to create this video etc so where is optimum?
can we please have the link to the markov model paper discussed?
Google the title "Optimal Trend Following Rules in Two-State Regime-Switching Models" by Zakamulin and Giner. SSRN has the latest version dated November 4th 2023.
@@OzDelphi thank you!! going through it right now...
@@yms9892 see my other comment about the Dr Tom Starke review video.
shocking to me that any pension plan would dedicate assets to net zero and climate technologies. Most of these investments have been awful. Furthermore a canadian pension plan would likely have a large allocation to energy and materials since they comprise a large part of the market. So essentially you are investing 'polluters' as well as green at the same time. For me if someone believes in climate change and wants to donate money or avoid certain investments then do it with your own money, not the pension plan's.
I began watching this series from the beginning in 2024 it is very valuable to get the perspective of these industry experts starting at the beginning of a bear market for stocks in which trend following was flat during the worst industry bear market from 2015 to 2019 in trend following history. Which capped off a lost decade with 1.3% annual returns for the SG CTA index. My clients are asking me questions about why some of our ETF recommendations such as KMLM or CTA have been doing so terribly in recent months so gaining the perspective from the tail end of the worst industry bear market is highly valuable.
Informative
🎉
great pod as usual. definitely one of the higher-quality ones going around these days, especially with having Cem on more frequently
Much appreciated!

I believe democracy is the best system, but it only thrives in countries with smaller populations and significant wealth. The West managed to establish functioning democracies because they had a monopoly on raw resources and the strongest militaries. Essentially, they could afford democracy because they faced no external threats, being the ones imposing military and economic coercion on the rest of the world. Now that countries in the global south have more opportunities, Western nations have become more repressive and less supportive of free speech. While democracy is an ideal, it is morally flawed because it often requires one part of the world to remain in misery while the privileged few benefit.
After decades of writing code for testing and trading systematically, some of which was incredibly good, I actually don't believe in it. Good trading is an art and a product of broad experience, in other words it is a human endeavor, not a "computerized" one. Systematic trading is no match for really good broadly informed discretionary trading.
I agree with you. I have been trading for 25 years. Those who can’t teach. Those who can do. 🙂
Tell that to Renaissance XD
Great content! Thank you Alan and Gary
Get this commie outta here!

Is it my impression or is the guest insinuating that the government is not big enough and that we need more regulation? 😂 Is that right? Good luck.
He's just explaining how he interprets the state of play, not how they should be.
Democrats love spending money
It’s kind of outrageous to refer to Bolsonaro as authoritarian considering how Lula is as president of Brazil. Lots of great content though in this one.

Just read the title and said yes, this is exactly what I do. Listening now. Should be good.
What a pleasant surprise. Simply alot more of your extremely arrogant doom and gloom b/s
Excellent discussion. Thank you!
Excellent.
Great Episode 💯

Such an important discussion on leveraging/deleveraging an optimal portfolio and pairing higher volatility trend with equities. Individual investor here and have been mulling over what contribution of trend on a volatility basis I need paired with equities. There was mention of 1.5x the volatility of soc gen trend matched with equities. I think that’s about ~20 percent volatility. That’s tough for retail non-accredited investors. Anyways, huge fan. This pod has been a great resource for me. Appreciate other episodes raising questions on “Economic Trend” and replication views - so helpful.
brilliantly explained
Wow Mauritz 👏 Thank you 🙏 ❤

India’s huge under developed population is also an impediment to the country’s growth. In spite of being the fifth largest economy in the world, we rank 136 in per Capita income. For India to rise to a developed nation in terms of per Capita income, is a well nigh impossible goal. The extreme centralization practiced by ever government that has ruled India since Independence is another mill stone around the nation’s neck. The massive disparity in wealth among the people beggars belief. I totally agree with Dr Mody.
